This guide has been split into sections for easy reference. It is important to note that you do not need to read this guide all at once. You may wish to start at the beginning and work through the guide chronologically, or you may prefer to jump to the sections that feel most pressing and relevant for your practice right now. You can also see this guide as a process, implementing the suggestions into organisations over a period of time.
We have written this guide in a way that can be applied across different types of interventions and formats, including one to one interventions, one to one sessions, case work, and group interventions. The suggestions in this guide can be applied irrespective of the format. However, in section 5.4, we draw attention to the group environment in terms of setting up safe and inclusive spaces (section 5.4b) and managing competing needs (section 5.4h). Similarly, in section 5.5 we propose some questions regarding addressing Coercive Structural Control (see Part 3 for more details on this concept) in the context of behavioural change work. These can be adapted and used for group and one to one settings.
