George is participating in a group session. It is an extremely hot day and some portable fans have been brought into the room to help cool everyone down. There are some sheets of paper on the table nearby and the fans are causing them to rustle. George is struggling to concentrate on what the facilitator is saying as all he can hear is the rustle of the paper and the noise of the fan. He begins to feel overwhelmingly hot and frustrated and he shifts about a lot in his chair in an attempt to feel more comfortable. The facilitator asks George a question and George does not respond, causing others in the group to complain that he is not participating. When questioned again, George clenches his fists and shouts ‘I don’t know! How do you expect me to know?’. He gets up and leaves the room, knocking the chair over as he goes.
